Defining the Customer for Farfalle
We define the customer for the Farfalle system as an individual or set of individuals who use data about the environmental conditions of Monarch butterfly over-wintering sites to obtain further understanding of their lifecycle with the intent of preserving the Monarch population.
Customer Benefits
- Farfalle sensors are resident in the field and do not require the customer to be present to acquire environmental data.
- Farfalle sensors operate autonomously and allow for collection of a much greater amount of data than could be easily accomplished by a customer.
- Farfalle sensors may be placed both in sites populated by butterflies and nearby sites that are unpopulated. This allows comparisons of conditions that might indicated factors that cause the butterflies to prefer one site over another.
- Farfalle accumulates collected data into a central access location. This facilitates sharing of data across multiple over-wintering sites.
- Farfalle presents data to the customer in a visual way, consisting of charts and graphs. This visual presentation aids in developing hypotheses about the influence of environment on butterfly over-wintering.
- Farfalle allows customer access to the raw environmental data.
